For me, spring is intertwined with hummingbirds, which I love to photograph...Here are a few this spring. I captured these using my 7D Mark II with a Canon 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L II IS USM lens, all taken at 400mm focal length.
f/5.6, 1/320, ISO 1250 - Male Allen's Hummingbird on Pride of Madeira flowers
f/5.6 1/320, ISO 400 - female Allen's hummingbird
f/5.6, 1/800, ISO 640 - female Anna's hummingbird

Amazing work on those photos, diverhank! We love all the detail you captured in both the flowers and the feathers!

Nice captures, Diverhank. I have found that the EOS 7D Mark II and the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM are a great combo for shooting close ups of flowers, and such. The short MFD produces incredible bokeh at 400mm, IMHO. Capturing hummingbirds in the shots are bonus points.

Gorgeous hummers!
I'm hoping we eventually get to have a spring here. The weather pattern has gone decidedly well-below the normal average temps and really put the brakes on any blooming activity.
