Cool.  On a trolley or ???

BTW, big shout out to you and thanks for raising awareness of memory prices rising early on - snagged a couple V90s as soon as you gave the alert.

Good Morning.

This was a accident scene I rolled up on.  It was cleared, but the truck was sitting there with its lights on.  I jumped out of my car and set up.  I gave a copy to the fire department.  I'm pretty sure this picture is still hanging in the San Bruno fire department's station.  🤩

This was back in my film days.  Shot on a Canon AE-1 I got in 1981.   As far as mem prices go...  I just bought 32 gigs of DDR5 ram.  It was nearly $500 bucks, ridiculous.  😅

I should have read "tripod and a steady hand" .  Great shot!

Rick,

That's pretty unusual.

Steve Thomas

Hi Steve,

I just shot with bulb and zoomed during the exposure.

A light bulb just went off. I never thought about using the Bulb mode to do zooming.

I could never figure out how you were supposed to zoom in or zoom out when you only had one second to work with.

Thanks for the idea. How do you avoid overexposure?

Steve Thomas

Steve, I recommend looking up LIFE magazine photographer Gjon Mili online for ideas.  He's most famous for introducing the idea of light painting to Pablo Picasso, but he was a pioneer in strobe work, collaborating with Harold Edgerton of MIT.  Still, thanks for sharing the pic and story Rick!  I've never done anything of the sort, but love admiring how others do.

My ears perk up whenever someone mentions Doc Edgerton.
