I find a male cardinal in sunshine difficult to photograph because the reds saturate and are clipped unless one underexposes. Increasing the input white point increases the dynamic range slightly so that there are fewer red pixels clipped, but compresses the color range for an image to be displayed on a non-HDR screen. Darkening the background shaded area slightly makes the cardinal stand out against the background. Making a HIF file from the CR3 file in Canon DPP software fixes the dynamic range problem, but then not everyone can view it.

All edits in Canon DPP free to download software (If I had a Nikon camera, I would use Nikon free software. I also use exiftool, graphicsmagick, gimp, and rawtherapee.) I uesed exiftool to extract this information from a dr4 recipe file that I saved from Canon DPP software.
