A good image in color. You can gain some detail in B/W but at slight loss in shadow detail.

Agreed. I have that version done with the red filter and like it, I just chose the color to post.

If this was a film image, the difference would amount to a choice between printing at grade 3 1/2 (my interpretation) or grade 2 (yours). A reflection which makes the water black just seems to grab my attention.
