In a Tata Somba

In Kossokouangou, Benin. Touring around northern Benin, I had the opportunity to see the inside of a traditional dwelling of the Sombas—a generic label used to refer to various ethnic groups from the Atakora range region. The lower floor, where this pic was taken, is used to cook and to guard the animals at night. The family leaves on the terrace above, actually the roof of this lower level.
