Hidden in the Marsh

Sometimes the landscape is as much a part of the story as the bird.

A dark-morph Reddish Egret tucked into layers of marsh grass, its beautiful colors almost blending into the surroundings—until that fiery eye gives it away.

A quieter moment with one of my favorite characters of the wetlands.

That fiery eye in all that marsh green is such a giveaway. Love how the grass is part of the story and he’s still tucked right into it.

I use the 800 a lot these days too. Where in New Jersey did you find this one?
