Excellent photos. I'm old enough to remember the coal fired steam engines. Dollywood has one that required a special permit from the EPA to operate it. Seems it was in a high populated area.

The Shay type locomotive is a very interesting accommodation for the steep mountainous areas that are found where the good timber was to be cut. 

I like the open car design that looks like logs on a flat car. On the East Coast we have a similar logging railroad. Cass Scenic RR in West Virginia.
