CanoScan LiDE 400 How to scan 300 pages across multiple days in a single PDF

DRWin

I just got this scanner, and so far it's perfect.  My question: in a long project (scanning a 300 page book), I would like to take a few long breaks, both to rest (including perhaps over night), and to work on other things.  How do I keep everything in one PDF, not starting a new PDF?  Can I turn the computer off?  Can I unplug the scanner from the computer and work on other things?  Thank you in advance.

What computer do you have? For Windows, the PowerToys app (at the Microsoft Store) has a function to have your computer stay awake, period. This is what you need to do so scanning is not interrupted. So a scanning job will stay open until you end it.

No, you can't turn the computer off, as that would obviously end the scan job.

No, you can't unplug the scanner from the computer. Why would you want to? Of course you can do other things on the computer while the scan app is open. Don't you ever have more than one app open at the same time?

Funny, my printer will remember a job overnight even if I turn my computer off. It seemed entirely reasonable that this scanner might be equally endowed.  So no, not obviously.  No need for snark, my man.

Funny how no matter what the forum, product or topic, there's always someone who has to question why you would want to do what you want to do.  Have a nice day, try to be happy.

The simple scanner you have doesn't have any memory to hold a job, like printers do.

Questioning why you want to do something is a way to get clear about what you want to do. If you don't like being asked questions, just ignore them. Rudeness is as rudeness does. Bye!
