When I installed a Canon LiDE 400 scanner to my Windows 11 PC and tried to scan using both the software and the buttons on the device. In both cases I kept on getting a message that said “Cannot communicate with scanner for these reasons: Scanner is turned off. USB cable is disconnected. Please check and try again. Scanner driver will be closed. Code:2, 156, 33” When I contacted Canon support (chat), I was specifically asked whether the scanning bar was positioned at the front of the scanner or at the hinge. It was at the hinge. Canon was nice enough to send a replacement scanner along with a shipping label to return the original device. I installed the replacement device today and it worked with no problems. The scanning bar is positioned at the front of the device and not at the hinge. I appreciate Canon's quick turnaround.
