When will the Canon R5C support Open Gate and Clog2?

With each camera brand updating and iterating, a lot of interesting products and firmware have been released. Canon recently released the Canon R6V, which not only has Open Gate but also supports CLog2 recording. For professional cameras, there’s the Canon C50, which has the same features. However, the Canon R5C, also aimed at professionals, doesn’t have any of these. Although it recently got a firmware update, it’s pretty minor and doesn’t really make a difference. In terms of competitiveness, the professional Canon R5C still doesn’t have an advantage over regular consumer-level mirrorless cameras. Features that consumer models have are missing on the professional models. Hopefully, the manufacturer will bring some updates soon.

Greetings,

As nice as both of these things would be, I don't think it's going to happen.  Primarily due to sensor limitations and product segmentation.  Open Gate is a little different. It could probably happen more easily.  I agree the R5 C is a professional product even though it's hybrid. Personally, I have other "features" that are higher on my list than you're two items, but your wants would be welcomed also.  Every time I think about what's next for me, I realized that my R5 C still meets my needs.

It's best to leave feature requests and product recommendations on the Canon USA homepage.  Select [+]Feedback which is at the top right corner or bottom left of the page to leave your product suggestions.
