Hi Canon Team,
I’d like to propose a firmware update to further enhance the Linked to Rotation Degree focus ring option on RF lenses for the R5C and similar models.
Right now, we have two modes:
While the Linked to Rotation Degree option offers more predictable focus, it still falls short of the precision we see in cine lenses. Given the advanced digital focus ring technology in RF lenses, it feels like a missed opportunity to only have these two modes.
By increasing the resolution of the focus throw in the Linked to Rotation Degree mode, we could unlock even greater control, allowing for smoother and more deliberate focus pulls—perfect for video users who need that cine-like experience.
Why develop this digital focus tech if we’re not going to maximize its potential? Two modes seem like a waste of this innovation. Adding more options—like a customizable focus throw—would give users more flexibility and truly elevate the RF lens system for hybrid shooters.
I believe this could be a valuable improvement for all creators using RF lenses for video.
Thanks for considering!
