Please address EOS C80 USBC protocol issue for remote start/stop

Hoping this message will make its way to the engineering team as I've been emailing and calling canon for several months now about this matter with no movement.

There seems to have been a change in the USBC protocol between the c70 and the c80. The C80 does not allow for remote start / stop through the USBC port via a device such as a DJI RS4 pro gimbal ( this was a function that was available with the c70 so something changed with the c80 )

DJI has not addressed this issue, citing that it's Canon's responsibility to address.

Thanks!

To make sure it gets to the right people, go to the Canon USA home page and find the little +Feeback link at the bottom. Use that to send your request.

Thank you for the suggestion. I send a note to canon’s feedback portal as well as contacting the product support team on the phone about every 3-4 weeks to keep them pressed on this issue. Just trying to keep it on their radar as much as possible so it finally gets addressed…

Greetings,

While not ideal, there is a solution.  USB-C to the 2.5mm remote port.  Josh Sattin demonstrates it on the Ronin 4 Pro here.

Hey Rick

Appreciate you sharing this and a super helpful temp solution for remote start/stop. I tried a different manufacture’s version of this cable and it didn’t work but assume the wiring must have been off.

I hope canon will still address this since I also found the internal focusing control of EF / RF lenses via the RS4 finger wheel was a great function as well.

Thanks!
