what do the numbers in the paper profiles mean for example mp 2/3. 1/2, etc?

What do the numbers mean in the canon paper profiles.  For example MP2/3, LU 1/2, etc?

I believe it is the quality setting.

It is not necessarily a "quality" setting but it could be. It is an update because something changed and Canon updated the profile to reflect it. Sometimes they don't remove the old profiles as some folks like to use what they know has worked.

There isn't anything to "correct" as some people like the ones they have. They know what works and don't want to change.

Beside some profiles fit certain circumstance better than others. Use what you know, right?
