pixma pro -1 setup

RICHJK
Apprentice

Just now attempting to set up my new pixma pro-1.

I discover that this machine  is not a wireless unit. Wow.

Anyway perhaps  someone knows what sort of USB adapter would work for me to get the printer to communicate with my linksys router.

The Pro-1 has an Ethernet connection, so you can plug it in to the router via an Ethernet cable.

Hello again.

I realize how the printer can be plugged in.

I need to make it work wirelessly suince the unit is in another room beyond where it can be reached by a cord.

Therefor the idea of usin a USB adapter.

Misunderstood your question. This should address your needs.

Hello again,

I am thinkig of using an adapter that can be plugged into the usb port on the printer. However there are a great many to choose form; which one?

Thanbks for the exchange of info

Rich

This is not going to be a good idea.  It is not even a printer question.  It is a network question.  I will bet a solution which goes through the ethernet port, as John Hoffman suggested, will be better and easier than the USB.

Can you put a small computer in the room with the Pro-1 to act as a server?

I found this online.

The printer has no accessible operating system so the USB dongles like you would plug into a computer won't work.
