imagePROGRAF PRO-1000 - won't print on 4x6

DFDPete
Apprentice

My first several prints were to 4x6 and it worked fine.  After blowing through the first round of ink and then replacing all of the ink, it won't print to 4x6.  Spent some quality time with support and determined it prints fine with any other size of paper through any feed.  When I try 4x6 through top feed it pulls paper halfway and gives a paper jam message.  Supports only solution was to replace but this thing is practically new, has printed less than fifty prints, never been moved or dropped. Two calls to support and their only answer is replace. Used Canon paper only.  Is there a repair that can be performed?

Thanks

Hi DFDPete,

Please try performing a roller cleaning.  To perform this, please follow the steps provided on this page:

PRO-1000 series > Maintenance > Cleaning the Printer > Cleaning the Paper Feed Roller

In addition to the automatic cleaning those steps provide, please also try cleaning the rollers manually.

Please turn off the power to your PRO-1000, unplug the power cord, then wipe the paper feed roller parts (the large paper feed roller in the center and four rollers on each side of it) (A in the image below) located in the top feed with a moistened cotton swab or the like. Do not touch the paper feed roller (B in the image below) with your fingers. Wipe the paper feed roller parts with a cotton swab while turning the shaft (C in the image below) with your fingers.

After cleaning the paper feed roller parts with a cotton swab, turn on the power, then clean the paper feed roller from the operation panel again.
