White point setting on calibrated monitor OS X

I use the native setting D65 but for offset printing, a lower number like D50 used to be preferable.

Is this still the case?

For a Pixma Pro-100, is native the best setting for it or lower? Not for offset proofing but more for printed photos.

I calibrate my monitor to D65-2.2 80 and am very pleased with correlation between screen and print.
