I need to replace ink on my Prograf Pro-1000, but the home button does not work--at all. I've restarted printer but nothing works. Any ideas?

I just had this same issue and contacted support (1-800-OK-CANON). I had some issues with the phone connection (the voice kept cutting out) but I was redirected to the switchboard, and they sent me right to a support person. He had me open the print tank cover (front, bottom), and eject the cartridge, then insert the new one. After that the display went back to the Home Screen where I was able to select "replace" as the instructions specify to start the replacement cartridge. I had to just open and close the cartridge door and the process proceeded correctly.
This was my first time contacting Canon Support and I was very impressed! Getting right to a Support person without a robotic phone tree, and he knew immediately how to resolve the issue. The next time I need another printer it will be another Canon!
