Print head alignment Pixma Pro-100

Just installed my new Pro-100 and can't seem to find the print head alignment instruction in the setup again. Running Mac 10.8.5 and had a heck of a time getting it to recognize the printer. Finally got that far, but now can't get back into setup to run the head alignment. Looking on the printer dropdown I only find test page, but no alignment.

Hello wvoss1947.

The alignment feature can be accessed by opening the IJ Printer Utility.

Opening the Canon IJ Printer Utility

To open the Canon IJ Printer Utility, follow the steps below.

  1. Open System Preferences, and select Print & Scan (Print & Fax)

  2. Start the Canon IJ Printer Utility

    • If you are using Mac OS X 10.7 or Mac OS X 10.6

Select your model from the printer list, and click Options & Supplies....

Click Open Printer Utility in Utility tab.

    • If you are using Mac OS X 10.5.8

Select your model from the printer list, and click Open Print Queue....

Click Utility when a list of print jobs is displayed.

Canon IJ Printer Utility is launched.  Once there, you can access the alignment options.

I too am having this problem. I only see "General" and "Supply Levels" tab under Options and Supplies... My operating sytstem is Mavericks OS X 10.9.3. I was unable to use the supplied CD because it wasn't compatible with my OS so I went to Canon's site to download the driver but could not find the Utility anywhere. My prints have faint white lines on them. How can I correct this? Please advise.

Thank you

This is easy for "us" OS X Mavericks users. Yes, the setup CD for OS X 10.9.3 is not any good, don't use it. Go and download all the Pro-100 driver needed and install manually.

Here's how a manual Print Head Alignment is done.

1. "System Preferences" from the Dock.

2. Select Printer & Scanners

3. Select the Canon Pro-100 on the Left Pane.

4. Select "Open Print Queue" on the right side.

5. Select "Settings" then "Utility" tab in this area.

6. Select "Open Printer Utility" in this area.

7. Use the drop-down menu and Select "Print Head Alignment" option.

8. Proceed with the manual printer head alignment prompts.

NOTE: Printer head alignment will use 3 sheets of plain paper for this procedure. Make sure you have enough paper loaded correctly in the printer for this to work properly. Hope this clears the procedure up for those confused.
