PIXMA PRO-200 Margin Error Message

RDO
Apprentice

I am using a Mac with the latest OS and installed the Canon driver, not the AirPrint driver.  Resize the image in Photoshop and am using the plug-in to export to the Canon Professional Print & Layout software.  Select the proper paper size, media type and proper profile.  I consistently get the following two error messages.  What am I doing wrong?

Hi RDO,

Who is the manufacturer of the paper you are using?

What is the paper type that you are using?

What is the size of the paper?

Hi RDO,

Have you selected either the Photo Paper Plus Semi-gloss or Photo Paper Plus Semi-gloss II paper type?

Typically, this warning comes when your image area is larger than the margin error for the paper you selected in the media settings. For example, matte papers typically require a margin. It is simply a mismatch between printer settings and driver settings

A couple of items to check:

  • When you resized your image, did it extend beyond the document size? If so, you may need to rasterize and trim in your editing software.
  • Are you trying to print borderless on a size that is not supported?
  • Are you using ICC profiles along with AM1X files for custom media settings?

In my case, I used AM1X files, which stipulates margins. I turned off the margins checkbox in the Canon driver, knowing that I am not going to extend my image past the paper edge. I don't print anything borderless since I don't want ink spraying past the edge of the paper. I also use Qimage, and when the warning (in your image) come up, I simply click OK since I am aware of the margin warning and know what I'm doing with the print job.

Give it a look and see what you have. ☺️
