PIXMA PRO-100 Print Tray Missing?

isaactalksphoto

I recently purchased a used (but apparently never used), Pixma Pro100. This is my first time ever buying a printer and the condition of it looked as advertised.

I purchased my ink and then went to load it. I loaded the first cartridge and went "hmmm... this looks different than the video I am watching... where the heck is the tray??"

Is this something I can purchase on its own or is this printer garbage now?

Thankfully the seller is going to give me my money back, so if I can get a tray its not too big of a deal...

Please help lol

Hi Isaactalksphoto! Thanks for contributing to the community.

From the picture you posted, I can tell that the printhead is missing. The "tray" that you are referring to is called a "printhead." It sits right below the ink cartridges when you are installing them. If you are missing the printhead, you will not be able to use the printer.

If the printer is new, the printhead comes packaged separately inside a plastic bag in the box. It needs to be taken out of the bag and placed in the printer. If you do find a plastic bag that contains the printhead in your box, please follow the instructions in section 2 of the Getting Started guide. The following link opens a PDF copy of that guide:

Here is a link to other instructions that will help with installing the printhead:

If the printhead did not come with the printer, it may be possible for you to purchase one. I do need to warn you that they are the most expensive part of the printer. If you want to check and see if they are available and how much they cost, please contact our parts order desk. They can be reached at toll-free 1(866) 481-2569 between 9:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. ET, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays). Once you dial that number, please wait for the telephone prompt and select Option 4.

Assuming that there are no other issues with the printer, you should be able to use it after installing a printhead.

I hope this information helps. Thanks again.
