Ah, thanks for explaining about the numbers.

OS Sequoia 15.3.2   Printer Pixma Pro-10

TL/DR: I’m parting with the printer, and praying there is still a market for it.  The cleaning cycles were costing me.

The long story - After my foray in this and other forums I’ve come to the conclusion there will be no need for me to update the firmware. I’m going to part with the printer because of the frequent cleaning cycles.  It was those cycles which caused me to leave it unused for a long period of time.  This past week I dove into Jose Rodriguez' videos and learned (from a 6 years ago video) that no matter what I do, the cleaning cycle with run every 60 hours.  I learned this is not a printer for a casual user like myself. I’m not a pro photographer.  If you know anything about whether the latest update for this printer will allow me to change the timing of the cleaning cycles, I may work harder to get that update installed.

If you know any way I can override the timing of the 60 hour cycle, you will be my hero.

A little history - I had not used the printer in at least a couple of years because so much ink was being wasted with the cycles. (I didn't have a clear understanding of the cycles).  Out of frustration I cursed the machine, and turned it off.  I'm not a pro photographer, and only wanted to print images now and then. I knew the ink was low, and feared just turning it on again would drain what ink was left. Fast forward to this past week, I decided to see if it still worked after sitting so long.  I figured the printhead would need attention, so with nothing really to lose, I learned about that process, cleaned it, shook and replaced the inks (which were still wet!).  Then I learned there was newer firmware for it.  I had hoped the newer firmware would also update how the cleaning process is timed.  HOWERVER the firmware will not update because two of the cartridges are empty.  I don't want to invest in more ink if I can't override the cleaning cycles.   I know how to keep the printhead healthy.

Hope that makes sense. Thank you for reading if you got this far.
