Canon proGraf 1000 - how to print 17x25 (firmware update installed)

ronfucci
Contributor

I recall doing this once before but do not remember the process.

At print time, there is no option for custom size.  The ICC's came from the paper manufacturer and are installed.  And there is no pull down value for 17x25.

I know you have to feed the paper from the manual slot in the back.

Could not find any reference to step wise instructions Canon support site(s).

Help.

Thanks

12:28:52 PM [Michael] Are you using a Windows computer, or a Mac?
12:28:57 PM [Ron Fucci] Windows
12:29:04 PM [Michael]

What version of Windows is on the computer? To find out, hold down the "Windows" key on the lower left hand corner of your keyboard and press ‘R’. A "Run" window should appear. Please type in "winver" without the quotes and hit enter. You should be able to see what version of Windows you have.

12:29:11 PM [Ron Fucci] win 2004

Is the printer being used wirelessly or with a direct USB connection to the computer?

12:29:58 PM [Ron Fucci] wireless
12:30:03 PM [Ron Fucci] i've done this before
12:30:10 PM [Ron Fucci] don't seem to be able to now
12:30:23 PM [Ron Fucci] no 17x25 in the print size
12:30:24 PM [Michael] Are any errors appearing?
12:30:28 PM [Ron Fucci] no
12:30:33 PM [Ron Fucci] prints perfectly
12:30:34 PM [Michael] What program are you printing from?
12:30:46 PM [Ron Fucci] adobe photoshop cc 2020
12:31:09 PM [Ron Fucci] i was hoping there was an FAQ on Canon site for this
12:32:20 PM [Michael] The PRO-1000 doesn't support 25" long sized paper.  The total print area supported by the printer is 8.27 x 23.39 inches.
12:32:40 PM [Ron Fucci] the most recent firmware allows 17x25
12:32:41 PM [Michael] There is a 17"x22" paper size that is included in the driver.  Is this what you possibly may have used in the past?
12:32:46 PM [Ron Fucci] no
12:32:50 PM [Ron Fucci] 17x25
12:32:56 PM [Michael] One moment.
12:33:16 PM [Michael] Oh I see.
12:33:26 PM [Michael] You need to specify a custom paper size for that length.
12:33:37 PM [Ron Fucci] right
12:33:50 PM [Ron Fucci] when i attempt to do that, there is no custom options
12:34:01 PM [Ron Fucci] from the print dialog
12:34:07 PM [Ron Fucci] if I hit 'standard'
12:34:12 PM [Ron Fucci] then you see custom
12:34:19 PM [Ron Fucci] if i hit photo
12:34:23 PM [Ron Fucci] then custom goes away
12:35:11 PM [Michael] In the Printer Paper Size menu, do you have the ANSI options at the bottom of the drop down menu?  The "Custom" option should be above those.
12:35:49 PM [Ron Fucci] hang on , i'll pull up photoshop
12:35:55 PM [Michael] Okay.
12:37:08 PM [Ron Fucci] i hit print from photoshop
12:37:22 PM [Ron Fucci] then i hit print settings from the dialog
12:37:52 PM [Ron Fucci] the quick setup is the first tab
12:37:57 PM [Michael] Correst.
12:38:00 PM [Michael] Correct.*
12:38:15 PM [Michael] In the Printer Paper Size menu, look near the bottom for the Custom option.
12:38:31 PM [Ron Fucci] if i hit 'standard' custom shows up
12:38:41 PM [Ron Fucci] if i hit 'photo printing' it does not
12:39:02 PM [Michael] You have to use the Standard settings and manually specify everything there.
12:39:09 PM [Ron Fucci] ok
12:39:32 PM [Michael] The Photo Printing preset uses the preset paper sizes that are related to Canon media types made for the printer.  A custom option won't be available with that preset.
12:39:42 PM [Ron Fucci] got it
12:39:45 PM [Ron Fucci] thanks
12:39:51 PM [Michael] You're welcome.  Any other questions?
12:39:55 PM [Ron Fucci] no thank you
12:40:00 PM [Ron Fucci] good job
12:40:06 PM [Michael] Thank you..
