I removed and reseat all the cartridges and head. Still the cartridges red lights do not work and the computer sends me an error message 1401 "no print head is installed" - All the cartridges are original and are half full

Because the error persists after reseating the ink and the printhead, it would appear as though your printer would require service. You are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system.
