Just got a Canon PIXMA MX432 and trying to set up. It asks for me to push the WPS button, but can't find? Hep?

Yes, to skip all the diatribe in this thread, find detailed instructions in post #17 and other instructions in post #7 and #9 in this thread above.

Thank you. Your (very wordy 🙂 ) rant was the key to me getting connected. I needed to just copy something, but wanted /needed to get through the connection step first. The whole WPS thing was a no go. I could not even decide which of three similar items were the router, and I did not find anything that looked like a WPS button on any of them. fingurig out the right password was a challenge too, but I did finally get that. Thank you very much. Now on to other things on my list of things to do!

Fantastic. Thanks so much for this advice.
Was going nuts trying to set up my new Canon MG6400 and your work-around worked fine for that one too!
Thanks for taking the trouble to post. VERY helpful.

I am done.....I am done....!
I simply give up....after weeks of working on connecting this "thing" wirelessy, it finally connected (with the help of an on line tech) BUT, it would not respond correctly...the tech said that the codes it was giving me told him that my almost brand new printer cartrages were no good...empty...worn out...etc...I told him he was crazy....while he was on the phone, I connected the usb cord to the printer and the codes immediately went away...so I will just use the wonderful printer with a usb and forget the wireless...period..It works just fine this way..
That is all I have to say about that..

So when you press and hold the button, where does it say "connecting"? I assume this is on the printer keypad? Is there a light on the router that will come on?
I am researching this for my 80 year old father that lives in a different city. He is getting no where with this Canon printer. And I am trying to find out as much as I can so that I can help him. I spoke to Canon and they emailed me the instructions but as you and many others on this forum have stated, they are not very clear at all!!
thanks for your help

My printer didn't say connecting, it said searching. All printers are slightly different, but any printer that connects wirelessly will have the same concepts. I set this up for my 82 year old Father (and that makes me old too). So try and connect directly from the printer, there should be a home or menu or some similar button that will take you to the wireless setup.
Go back to the first page of this thread, then scroll down to the 9th message, I wrote some detailed instructions with 10 steps which was how I was able to get this to work (after a frustrating hour or more). I gave up on the instructions that came with the printer and figured out how to connect our new Pixma mg 5420 printer without the WPS button.
Click here then scroll down to the 9th message: http://forums.usa.canon.com/t5/Personal-Printers/where-is-the-WPS-button/td-p/8893/page/1 or click on the link to the 1st page below.
BTW: I see the instructions I wrote have been viewed 43,000 times since I posted in January only 5 months ago. A lot of people having trouble setting up this printer, and going out on the net to find an answer.

Did that. The computer asked for a pin number. Where is that?

Hmmm ... was it the computer or the printer that asked for the pin number? Should be the printer asking for a pass code or a password. When someone visits your home, and they ask for your wireless password, this is the same password you tell them. The printer will use the same wireless password.
Did you successfully get the printer all setup and connected to the router thru the menu screen on the printer?
Then download the drivers for your model of printer and install?
Then you should be able to add the printer to your computer and print a test page.

Yepper!
I am taking my PIXIMA MX470 back to the store. Nothing has worked. I have tried for 4 hours with this printer.
I give up. Cannon lost another sale.
Don't think they care.
