I was printing a long document a few days ago. It stopped half way through. I printed a one page image immediately after that. Now it won't print anything at all from any source. I have rebooted both the printer and my laptop several times. I have unplugged the usb cable connecting them twice at each end. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer. I have downloaded and run the most recent generic driver file and run it. I have attempted to update the firmware. Nothing works.
What am I missing? What else can I do?

Anything about your PC that has changed? Operating system upgrade? Along that line what is your printer connected to? Will the printer perform a test print?
To print a test page directly from the control panel of your Canon imageCLASS MF642Cdw, follow these steps:
Select the Ink Droplets Icon
Choose Improve Print Quality
Follow On-Screen Instructions

Thank you for your quick response. When this happened, I was printing three scripts. The first two printed just fine. The third stopped in the middle and that's when it stopped working. Nothing changed about the laptop or the setup in that half hour. One minute it was working, the next it wasn't. It will not print a test page. I've gotten multiple errors coded 853 and one coded 822.
I'm at my wits end.

Follow these steps to reset the Canon imageCLASS MF642Cdw and fix the errors:
Try 1 and 3 first.
1. Perform a Hard Power Reset
Turn off the printer using the physical power button.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Wait at least 60 seconds.
Plug the cord directly back into the wall and power the printer on.
2. Update and Correct Your Printer Drivers
Often, Error #853 and #822 occur if the PC sends documents using a generic or AirPrint driver instead of the official Canon driver.
Download and install the latest Canon Generic Plus UFR II Printer Driver from the Canon Official Support page.
When adding the printer to your computer, ensure it is designated as the official Canon model rather than a "Secure AirPrint" or generic class driver.
3. How to Do a Factory Reset (If Errors Persist)
If the printer continues to fault, you can reset all of its data and settings to the factory defaults via the touchscreen:
Press the Menu button on the display panel.
Navigate to Management Settings > Initialize All Data/Settings.
Tap Yes to confirm.
The printer will restart and return to its initial language setup screen.
