the canon setup (file MF260MFDRIVERV6101WP straight from the support site) is unable to find my printer/scanner after a clean install of Windows 11 24H2
the device is the Imageclass MF269DW- both the device and the computer are connected to my router by ethernet
windows (via settings>bluetooth & devices>printers and scanners> add device) can find the printer and install drivers for printer, but I want the functionality of the cannon scan utility which can't find the device even when I give it the IP address.
I've disabled Windows firewall (although windows can find the device with the firewall active) and Ive run the setup software as an Admin
any suggestions??

Greetings,
When you say "give it an IP address" does that mean you've assigned a static IP for it on your router, or are accepting what DHCP has assigned to it? I suggest you assign a static IP. It only has to be done once and ensures persistency.
Next step. Remove the failed install attempt from Settings > Bluetooth and devices > Printers.
If you have installed any drivers, please remove them from Control Panel > Programs and Features.
Now restart your system.
Visit the MF269Dw's support portal. Select downloads, Windows Windows 11.
https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/imageclass-mf269dw
Download the first two drivers listed. They both have recommended banners. The first one are the drivers UFRII with fax, ScanGear, etc.
The second one is the MF Scan Utility version. 1.21.0.2. These are the only two downloads you need for full functionality Print, Fax, Scan.
Run the driver's package first. When it prompts you to allow it to make changes to the firewall, select yes. It will then detect the printer connected on your network. If it doesn't pick it up, there's a button that will let you enter the IP address that you've assigned. Once it's detected you can press next. On the next page you can select which features you want to install. You can optionally uncheck the fax option unless you're going to be using it. I also didn't install the driver assistance service which is the last checkbox. However if you install it, it's not going to hurt anything. I'm just the less is more kind of person.
When you hit next it installs the drivers you've selected. Last page of the install dialog has a checkbox to print a test page. This will confirm the print driver has installed correctly.
Next step run the MF Scan utility. This actually unpacks runs and installs in about 9 seconds.
Now visit the windows start menu. Press all in the upper right hand corner. Scroll to letter C, expand Canon folder and click on the MF Scan Utility. When that opens, ensure your printer's name and MAC address appear in the selector box in the upper right hand corner. Now press the ScanGear button. If ScanGear opens, you're good. If you get an error let us know. There is still an issue with the 24H2 feature release, but a fix / workaround exists.
Tip: If you log into the printer's Remote UI, ensure you record and remember the System Manager PIN you set.
