imageCLASS MF227dw: iOS 18 AirPrint problem

Prescott

My Imageclass 227dw laser printer worked great with iPhone and iPad until iOS 18 update.  My devices show my printer in the print window, but when I click “print”, the window goes away and nothing prints.  Apple tech tells me they’ve recorded numerous complaints about this problem with Canon printers.  Any known fixes out there?

My problem seems to have been resolved by a simple work-around.  When I’m in a website or document and I select AirPrint I then click on the square with the up-arrow (in the Air Print window) and am presented with a number of choices that include the Canon Print app.  When I select Canon Print, I’m able to make my print-setting choices and print.

Same problem here. I haven’t been able to scan for years either. I’m thinking after a decade it might be time to look for something new and supported. It was a good run and it’ll be a great pickup for someone at the thrift store!

Having the same problem with IOS 18.02 and my Imageclass printer. But I’m not following your workaround. Screenshots, please?

(To print from an iPhone or iPad)

You need the Canon Print app installed from the App Store and set up for your printer:

If using Canon Print (instead of AirPrint) to print your desired document/image isn’t possible, click on the box with the up-arrow to access AirPrint.  From the AirPrint box, click on the box with the up-arrow:

That should bring you to a dialogue box that looks similar to this below, where you can select Canon Print.

Once in Canon Print, you should be able to output to your printer.

Prescott….Thank you so much. I have an Imageclass printer and am struggling to set it up on the app, which does not recognize it. Guess I will have to pray to the Apple gods to fix this glitch in the new IOS.

My printer couldn’t be found automatically. I had to determine the network address (IP address can be found through the printer display’s settings). Once I entered the IP address into the app, it all worked fine.

I too had to add mine by IP. Likely very important to have a fixed IP on your printer. It’s possible it may discover a new one after making the initial connection and it changes, but unlikely.

We’ve spent the last half hour trying to find the IP address without success.

Ok, found IP address. Where to enter it on the Canon Print app? (Thanks for your patience!)
