for some reason when we try to print from our laptop our canon mx-430 printer says not responding

We have yet to be able to print from our laptop wirelessly with this new mx-430 canon printer.  A box pops up saying not responding

This error may be caused by a firewall or anti-spyware utility on the system.  Please temporarily disable this software to see if this will allow the printer to communicate.
