i have a pixma ts9520. Via the ij Scan utility i create .pdfs frequently. Now some uplaod apps are telling my i need to update the pdf version, that they dont accept versions older than 1.4. Any recommendations?

Surprised that there isn’t backwards compatibility. What computer are you using and what operating system?

You can probably download Adobe Acrobat, open the older PDFs and then Save As to save an updated version.

Thanks for the response.  I dont get it either.  Sure, it should be back compatible, everything else is.  Never had one rejected until now.  Canon's IJ Util saves as a .pdf.  I've opened them by clicking on the stored file (I have Acrobat), renamed them, probably re-saved them. But yours is a good idea.  I'll try it and see. Any idea how you tell the version of .pdf files via properties or in Acrobat or elsewhere?. this is one of the dumber things I've run into.

What computer are you using?  I don't use Acrobat since I'm using a Mac and macOS has built-in PDF functionality.  When I bring up file information for PDFs, the version is included in the More Info section.

Acrobat should have something like "Document Properties" or something similar that should display the details of the PDF.

Im on a HP AIO, fairly new, Win 11. Ive opened the files in Acrobat but still couldnt find a version.  Very strange.  I think its a glitch in the software the bank uses, but how had it not been fixed? Its the only place that has ever rejected a pdf of mine. Worked around it now. (zipped files, email). I'll post here again if I find an answer.

Just wanted to add.... the bank contactec me this morning asking about the docs and i explained that i had wasted a lot ot time trying to get them to her and that the Upload wasnt accepting my .pdfs or .zip.  She apologized and said that lots of people were complaining about it and they were trying to get it fixed.  Unfortunately, i was doing the work over a holiday weekend and wanted to get it behind me- i wasnt able to call and ask wtf.. So done now.  Problem is on their end.thanks for the participation.

PS- in the meantime, i tried using the Win app for scanning.  Sucked.  it apparently didnt like my Canon.  Would never complette a 2 page scan.
