Hello,
II have a Pixma TS7720 printer. For the past few days, each evening my printer has turned itself on and is telling me I need a firmware update. I have looked at the Pixma site and don't see any recent firmware updates for that printer. I am wondering if this is a legitimate notice and if I should go ahead and install it or keep deferring it? Is there a way to check it or to reverse it if there are issues?
I appreciate any info anyone can offer on this issue.
Thanks!

@HLily ,
The link I referenced above has updaters for both Mac and Windows. The windows version is listed right below the Mac.
If your printer is working, you don't need to update its firmware. Firmware updates are optional.

Thanks! I did look there and that one from September is for a MAC connection it looks like. My laptops are all Windows. The one before that is from 2024 - I didn't even own the printer then. Is there a way to see if it has gotten that update when I first installed the printer - or came with it maybe? And it also says there it needs a USB cable. The firmware update notice I am getting seems to just say it will be downloaded via the internet? That's why I am wondering if it is even a legitimate warning.

This is the latest firmware update: https://pdisp01.c-wss.com/gdl/WWUFORedirectTarget.do?id=MDQwMDAwOTQwMDAx&cmp=ABR&lang=EN and you do need a usb cable.

Great - thanks! But I do wonder why I am just getting this notice now after having the printer for quite some time - more than a year I believe.

And just a little more to update this thread - I looked on the printer in settings/set-up/check current version and it tells me that the printer has firmware 4.030, which is not listed on the Canon site. When I looked at the screen to install firmware, it said it could get 4.040. When I looked that up, it said that it was one that dealt with Google Cloud Printing, which I don't use, or for possible shutdown issues, so for now I just changed the setting not to check for updates. Not sure what to make of it, but the update isn't for 1.0.

I think you took the best action. Firmware updates can go south.

Great - thanks so much! I was hesitant to to the upgrade since all is working well without that. 😀

Thanks! Yes, I see that now. But I think I am just going to forego any updates, as you say - they are optional. Thanks for the help!
