PIXMA TR8620 Canon Print application extremely slow in Windows

Just installed new PIXMA TR8620a printer.  Everything basically working OK with the printer.  Installed Canon Print application on Windows 11 machine.  It basically works OK but takes roughly 25 seconds to return to the home screen from any other screen!  Just being on the home screen and clicking on the home button (upper left) grays out the main window and displays the spinning dial for 25 seconds.

I haven't used the Canon Print App in windows.   I use the standard printer driver and utilities.  I use the Print App on my mobile devices.

How is your printer connected and to what?  A slow user interface sounds like a communication issue.

My printer is connected to my Gbit LAN via ethernet, though I see the ethernet jack on this printer is only 10/100.  Should still be plenty fast enough connection.
