PIXMA MX479 Scanner icon gone from Canon Quick Menu

mmcruz14

I have the dual printer/scanner (MX479) and have been using it without issue for a long time. Today, I had to print and scan 3 pieces of paper and after scanning 2 of them, a message popped up on my screen that I didn't read fully as I was on a call with someone waiting for the document to be uploaded (and I accidentally hit ok, before I could read the message). Now, the scanner icon that used to be in the Canon Quick menu is gone. That is what I always used to scan my docs. I re-booted my pc, played around in the program to see if I could see anything but I don't. I also tried to just scan the doc manually, by putting it on the glass, and not using the top feeder, but even when I select the scanner button on the printer/scanner, it didn't do anything. The screen reads "Scan local (usb). Please help! THANKS!!!

My laptop uses Windows 10.

Thank you! I downloaded the latest firmware yesterday and thought about the drivers but I didn't do anything. I just followed your advice and actually re-installed it and the scanner option is back working!!!
