PIXMA MP640 One printer, Two PCs, can you connect to both?

I have an older MP-640 (great machine!) that is hardwired to my old Windows 10 PC.  Getting ready to buy a new PC before the old one fizzles out, and will be running both PCs for a while as I transfer files to my new PC (sounds like that is going to be a real hassle!)

During my conversion to the new PC, I was wondering if I could connect the printer to both PCs at the same time.  I'm thinking using wifi to connect the new PC to the printer, while leaving the old PC wired.  Can this be done? Any better ideas?  Maybe there's some kind of switch that I can hook up to choose which printer I want to use?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Web search for "USB switches" and you will find lots of them at Amazon, Newegg, that will connect two or more computers to one or more printers. Just make sure you get one with the right USB connections for your computers.

Welcome to the forum!

The PIXMA MP640 is an older model which we have retired. While that means that Canon USA no longer offers direct support for it, your friends here in the Canon Community are welcome to offer suggestions.

You can also speak with a Canon Upgrade Program specialist to help with locating updated replacement that would meet your current needs at a discount. You can reach them weekdays and Saturdays at 1-866-443-8002.

Thank you

Thanks for the response, Tiffany.  I will probably upgrade to a newer printer eventually, but that's after I setup the new PC.
