Do you have phone you can check your land line with?

Troubleshooting the Busy Signal on imageCLASS MF249dw

Check Phone Line Connection

  • Ensure the phone line is functioning properly.
  • Verify that the fax machine is connected to the correct port.
  • Make sure no other devices are using the same line simultaneously.

Restart the Fax Machine

  • Turn off the imageCLASS MF249dw.
  • Wait a few moments, then turn it back on. This can help reset any temporary issues.

Test the Phone Line

  • Connect a regular phone to the same line.
  • Check for a dial tone. If there is no dial tone, there may be a problem with the phone line that needs to be addressed by your service provider.

Additional Considerations

If the busy signal persists after these steps, consider the following:

  • Check for any settings on the fax machine that may restrict sending or receiving faxes.
  • Ensure that the fax machine is not set to a mode that conflicts with receiving faxes, such as "Fax/Tel Auto Switch."

One additional question.  Is the phone line connected to the Fax port analog or VOIP?

Good question.

I have tried all of your above suggestions, but the green light continue to flash when I reconnected the phone cable. No flashing when the phone is not connected. I will try Factory reset today.

Greetings,

Although you've marked this post as solved, you appear to still have an issue.

I suggest you review the user guide below before resetting the device.

Your phone line has to be connected to the lower port on the back of the printer.  An analog phone line is recommended.  Some VoIP providers support fax functions but you should confirm this If you are using a internet-based connection.

Deciding which fax receive mode to use:

Please confirm the above connection in settings.
