I am using a recently-purchased a Color ImageCLASS MF656Cdw printer/scanner. I am running a PC with Windows 11. I have downloaded the recommended drivers from the Canon website.
I am trying to scan a number of documents and the scans are coming out rather poor (poor contrast...the text is gray rather than black, signatures have gaps, and the scan generally looks like a poor photocopy). So I decided to try cleaning them up by using the ScanGear option. I would like to be able to preview the results rather than having to save documents and go in to check results; however, the only preview I can see is a default gray R. When I go to ScanGear Advanced mode and click on preferences, all of the options on the Preview tab are grayed out. It is stuck on "Display Saved Preview Image" (presumably that's the gray "R"). So I really have two questions:
1. Suggestions to get a better-quality scan of documents (blacker text, whiter background), and
2. Is there a way for me to preview the results of a scan when I am using ScanGear?
Thanks for your help.
