How to connect Canon PIXMA MP830 to work with iMAC desktop with operating system OS X 10.9.5 Maveric

How do I connect my Canon PIXMA MP830 all-in-one printer to be compatible ith my new iMAC desktop with operating system 10.9.5 Maverick?  The printing part works but the scanner or fax is not recognized.  How do I find the software to download for this?  Or a remedy to make it work?

We do not have drivers compatible with the Mac OS X 10.9.5 operating system for the PIXMA MP830, so we cannot guarantee that the scanning function of the printer will work with that operating system, even if you are able to print.
