New to my Sure Shot. I saw there were intermediate ISO's on the earlier part of the scale, like 100 to 400, so I bought some 800 film ... not realizing there was no intermediate ISO between 400 or 800. I could place it in between there but that seems incorrect. Would you do 1000 to avoid overexposure? Thank you!

Uprating the film - AKA "pushing" it, is possible, but if you can find an intermediate point on the scale I would use that as it will be more accurate. The fun will begin when you go to have it developed. How much film did you get? if it is only one roll, you can try it out as an experiment or scrap it and go for the certainty of one of the other two options.
I had an EF35M back in 1981 and still have it. It's a great camera.
