The battery should last longer than just 50 shots. Maybe there is a poor connection between it and the camera. Try cleaning the contacts on the battery and inside the battery compartment using a soft microfiber cleaning cloth. That should improve the connection between them.
If this does not work, your PowerShot S100 will need to be evaluated by our Factory Service Center. To start the repair process, you'll need to complete a Repair Request on our website.
