What size filter does the XS530 take?  Is an adapter needed to attach a filter?  If so, what is the model number of the adapter?  Thanks!

Here's the adapter you need:

 Filter Adapter FA-DC67A

Here are the filters you can use from Canon or you can use any 67mm threaded filters:

 67mm Circular Polarizer PL-CB

 67mm Protect Filter
