I recently purchased a Canon Powershot V1. So far, I have liked it. However, after recording multiple videos for my business, I noticed that I had several .dat files every time the battery died that I could not access, resulting in hours of video lost.
With my 12-year old Powershot this V1 replaced, when the battery died, I still had a usable video .mp4 file. How do I adjust the settings on the camera so I can get an audible warning before the battery completely dies so I can avoid this issue in the future? I am considering returning this camera if this cannot be resolved. I have never had a camera that nullified 40 minutes of video when the battery died. Usually, you just pop in a new battery and keep it moving.
If I have to insert a new battery BEFORE it dies to preserve the data, I expect a way to get an audible warning of some sort. I shoot top-down tutorial videos where I need both hands so I only look up at the LCD screen periodically. Am I missing something? How do I get some sort of audible warning to avoid video loss in the future when the battery dies DURING recording? This is quite often for me because I batch film content (as many as ten or eleven 45-60 minute videos in one day)!
