Powershot SX540 HS power lever not working

I am hoping someone can help me with my powershot SX540 HS. The zoom lever doesn't appear to work when i try to zoom in on something. It works when i use the framing assist button, and when i zoom out, just not in. Any ideas please?

It might be a piece of gritty dirt.  It could be anything, to be honest.  Contact Canon Support.
