I purchased the Canon Powershot SX740 HS and got it in the mail today (06/18/24). When I got it I used the included battery and 64GB SD card and took some photos. The camera then died and I put the battery and camera to charge. Now the camera will not turn on at all and the only indication of it somewhat working is when I insert the battery into the slot and try to turn on the camera, a green flash will go off for a second. It was working perfectly this morning and now it isn’t. Any help is appreciated!!!

i’m having the same exact problem. i recently purchased the same camera and it doesn’t turn on even when the battery is full. it does turn on randomly once a day but once i turn it off it won’t turn back on or the screen will turn black on its own and shut off. i took it to a camera shop to see what they could do but all they tried was a new battery which also didn’t power on the camera. the guy told me it was a defect to the camera but i’m noticing a lot of people have this same problem. if anyone knows what to do please let us know 🙂

Hello vraclya,
Dirty battery terminals can reduce battery performance and cause issues like this. Try cleaning the battery contacts on the battery and charger with a clean, dry, microfiber cloth or cotton swab to insure good communication between the battery and camera. Have you tried using a separate Canon battery? Try the camera with just a fully charged battery, no memory card. Is the unit still not powering up? If so, the camera would need to be sent into our service center.
