Is there a maximum capacity for the SDXC CARD when used in the power shot sx70 hs camera?

In theory, any UHS-I SDXC card.  However, those with higher capacities (e.g. 256 GB, 512 GB, etc) may not work.

Theory doesn't always hold true. Many people write in here about SD cards that are SUPPOSED to work, but don't. They are trying to use the biggest-capacity card they can get. But at least some cameras don't like them.

Actually, you are ill-advised to use huge memory cards in your camera anyway. It makes it to easy to keep all your photos on it in the camera until it eventually runs out of room. Problem is, if the card goes bad you have lost EVERYTHING. It is far better to have multiple, reasonably-sized memory cards to change to. A loss of one to corruption (or actual loss) is not a total loss of all your important data from a special event or from a longtime back.

Best practice is to move files to your computer and/or external storage media, not leaving things in the camera long term. A bunch of 32 GB cards is preferable to one 128, 256 or 512.
