My camera lens does not retract after pressing power, buzzes high and low repeatedly then screen says lens error restart camera, then powers off. Pressing power again may start camera again but no Auto Focus. Lens still not retracting at power off. Happened after putting away for extended time then it never worked again. Never used in sandy or dirty environment. Saw someone put in the freezer then let it warm up. I did this and it worked, thought I would do this again and leave it in over night and waited a day after removing, now back to failing. What could it be, help please?

Greetings,
If the freezer restores functionality (temporarily), the camera has suffered an (electronic) PCB or chip related failure.
This is a 14 yr old camera (8MP). Canon will not service it. midwestcamera dot com might. However, its not going to be worth it.
Its time for a new camera. I said this recently to someone else in the same situation. The holidays are upon us. Treat yourself to a new camera.
I think you might like the PS Elph 360
