I just got lens error while trying to take a picture. Camera shut down. Lens Error E02

Please remove the battery from your camera and let the camera sit for a few minutes before reinstalling the battery.  If you go to power the camera on again and still receive the LENS error, your camera will need to be repaired by our Factory Service Center.

To start the repair process, you'll need to complete a Repair Request on our website.

But I have been able to solve this problem (for now) with the on line help of Cannon Tech support.
Here is what you do-
Remove battery and memory card from camera. Hold the power button on for two minutes. Release and reinstall the battery. Try to take a picture. In my case there is no lens error anymore and I am able to take pictures just like before. It has been three days now. Hope it keeps working.
Certainly worth a try.
