PowerShot ELPH 320 HS won't turn on because lens wont retract

Hi Canon Community!

I have a Canon Powershot ELPH 320 HS that was left for me from my father who passed away in December. Unfortunately the sweet blue camera was knocked out of my hands and was damaged after hitting the ground. It immediately shut off, and the lens won't retract, and the camera won't turn on at all even with a fully charged battery.

It feels like I have tried every single thing that I could find online and even asked fellow employees for tips, (we all work on the digital team for an NBA & WNBA team) but I don't want to make it worse if its fixable. I was sadly blown off by our local camera repair shop as well and was just told to purchase a new one. But this has such deep sentimental value to me because my dad was my best friend and sparked my love and passion for photography in the first place.

I have tried clearing the debris and so on and so forth.... I am willing to pay any amount for it's repair but I realize the camera is from 2012 and discontinued so parts are nearly impossible but I am not giving up! The memory of my father is what is most important but I would love nothing more than to get this jammed lens back in and camera working again!! Thanks everyone.

Greetings,

Unfortunately there's little hope getting a 14-year-old camera like this one repaired.  This is primarily due to parts availability (lack of).  Most repair facilities are not equipped to work on hardware this old and typically the cost to repair even if it was possible will typically exceed replacement value.  I understand this camera has sentimental value to you, but unfortunately it's most likely a loss.  In the future, make sure you use a wrist strap.  This greatly reduces the chance for these types of accidents.
