I recently picked up a PowerShot A1000IS PC1309 but it is not powering on correctly.
After pressing the power button, it powers on for less than 1 second before immediately shutting off. The exact duration before shutoff varies seemingly randomly.
I have tried cleaning the battery contacts, swapping batteries, booting with and without an SD card inserted and none of this seems to have an effect.
Any insight or additional troubleshooting steps would be appreciated.
Thank you!

Greetings,
18 yr old camera. Its not worth much time except cursory troubleshooting which you've already done.
I'd return it. Cut your losses and start searching for a new working camera.

Does the lens open fully? If not, there must be a foreign object stuck in between the lens' retractable elements like fine sand, hair, or anything tiny- these caused the lens to reset and power the camera off immediately. Good luck!
