I have a Model SX160IS that won't hold any memory of date/time. New batteries didn't help. I go through the setup procedure and all looks well. And if the camera is not switched OFF, I get the date entered on the pictures taken. But as soon as the camera is switched OFF, date/time is lost.

Your Date and Time battery is dead you need to change it
It is a CR1220 button battery

Thanks for this help. I didn't know about this battery. I was changing the camera-operation batteries. Yes, the CRl220 button battery has been located and measured 0.5v (instead of 3v). I feel sure that when I find a replacement that this tip is going to correct my problem. Thank you.
