Memory Card Error

Dickiedoodle

Just installed a new memory card, 2GB SD.  Immediately got "memory card error" message.  Then got message that memory card was locked.  In checking A430 User Guide, it indicates that new memory cards should be formatted.  In the ten years we've had camera we have never formatted the cards, and they have always worked.  Instructions for formatting says to go to Menu and then Format. (I have gone through the menus over and over and cannot find a "format" selection as shown in the Guide.  What can I do to get memory card to work?

I always format my cards in the camera. The format command should be in the first "tool" (wrench) menu. You may have to use the down arrow button to scroll down. Make sure to do a low-level format.

Use the advanced user guide it has the format procedure in it page 29.

Also it is not unheard of to get a new defective SD card...try it in another device, computer or something.
