Is a squeaking/scratching noise normal from a Canon SX 50 zoom when using it.

While zooming in/out a squeaking noise is heard ( SX 50 ), dosent sound very normal. Bought the camera from Amazon. Was reading other posts and was suprised to find many others having the same problem. Could this be defective peices sold from the retailer or is there a general defect with the model  ???
